Hello everyone,
I'm happy to share my latest project with you. I decided to make a 3D bust of J.R.R. Tolkien's character, 'Aragorn' from 'The Lord of the Rings'.
The model initially started as a digital sculpture of Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn, however I wasn't very happy with how the features were coming along, so I decided to mold it into a version of the character, which was inspired by Viggo's likeness.
I really enjoyed working on this project as I learned a lot of new methods of lookdev and overall character development using Blender's node system and Cycles renderer, and I also further developed my sculpting, modeling and texturing skills.
The Lord of the Rings movies mean a lot to me as they have always been a big inspiration to my art and they played a big part in my childhood. Aragorn was always my favourite character and my favourite memories were when I roleplayed as him when I was young, play-fighting with my brothers and the invisible orcs that we were defeating in our imagination. We spent a huge amount of hours playing video games, such as 'The Lord of the Rings : The Return of The King' and 'Battle for Middle-Earth 1 & 2' and I often revisit them as they are some of my favourites games. It meant a lot to visualise Aragorn this way, although there is always room for improvement and I do hope that next time I will achieve Viggo's likeness better.
I am sure that in the future I will make another project based on him, but for now I am happy with the result and I hope that you like it as well.
